In response to intensified worldwide demand for environmental protection and energy conservation the company stepped up its R&D efforts to increase energy efficiency and reduce NOx emissions in all its products. In 1989. the company succeeded in developing an entirely new regenerative combustion technology一一 the High Cycle Regenerative Combustion System (HRS)~-and applied the HRS technology to burners and combustion systems for the
industrial market.
This HRS technology was acclaimed as a breakthrough in academic as well as industrial circles, and in 1992, it was adopted by the Japanese Government as the key technology in the National High Performance Industrial
Furnace Development Project.
